Austria, the land where the movie The Sound of Music was filmed. They have not forgotten that fact.

High mountains and cold days made for a memorable trip. Salzburg was lovely. Small cobbled streets with a high castle on the hill. The people were quite nice and the city is certainly clean and friendly. 

One snowy morning I decided to take the train to Hallstatt, a small mountain hamlet next to a pristine lake about 2 hours out of Salzburg. As I looked out the train window at the falling snow I realized I had no snow boots and this might be a bad idea. But I was lucky and the weather cleared the instant I arrived and I was able to take photos of the first snow of the year in Hallstatt. The beauty of that moment will never leave me.
